Today in 1905, Shanghai Branch of the
Board of Revenue Bank was established. The Board of Revenue Bank of Qing
government set up Shanghai branch on Hankou Road, Shanghai and appointed Zhang
Yunji as the director and Rui Feng as the deputy director. The expected total
capital of the bank was 4 million taels of silver and divided into 40,000 shares
to be raised by the government and individuals. Due to the little quantity of
commercial shares, a quarter of the capitals£500,000 taels of silver were invested by the government. The Board of
Revenue Bank was renamed as Da Qing Bank in 1908 and reorganized as Bank of
China in 1911. In 1923 it was moved to Renji
Road (now
Dianchi Lake
Road) and restructured
as the National Specialized Bank in 1928.
Today in 1988, Hujia
highway was opened to traffic. The highway which is a full-interchange-closed
advanced highway for vehicles exclusively is the approach section of 204
national highway (Shanghai to Yantai) lasting
from Qilianshan
Road in
Shanghai center to the south
gate of Jiading county in the suburbs. The total length of the highway is 20.5
kilometers, the width of the foundations and road are 45 meters and 26.5 meters
respectively, the central median 3.5 meters and it has up and down two traffic
lanes and two hard shoulders on both sides for emergency shutdowns. The
construction started on December 21st,
1988 and till June to July, 1985, the soil subgrade was comprehensively
under construction and the structural construction started. On October 31st.
1988, the inaugural ceremony was held and the former Secretary of Shanghai
Municipality Jiang Zemin cut the ribbon. So far, Hujia highway which is the
first highway in mainland China built in accordance
with the standards of highway construction has been opened to
traffic.
